Choosing digital channels in Vietnam is a resource decision. Each platform can serve a different stage of the buying journey, so the useful question is which channel fits your audience, offer and follow-up process. This comparison provides a planning framework for Facebook, Zalo, TikTok, YouTube, Google Search and Shopee without assuming that one platform wins for every business.

Start with the buyer journey

Map how customers become aware of a problem, compare options, check credibility and act. Identify the information they need at each step. A channel earns its place when it can deliver that information and lead to a next step your team can support.

Set a practical constraint before planning: how much content can the team produce, who answers enquiries and how quickly can they follow up? Two well-maintained channels are often a more manageable starting point than a presence everywhere with no owner.

Google Search and YouTube: answer specific questions

Use Google Search-oriented pages when buyers can express a need in words. Build a page around a clear question, comparison or service, and make the answer easy to find. Match the title and description to the content instead of repeating broad keywords across unrelated pages.

Use YouTube when a demonstration, explanation or comparison benefits from video. Plan the opening around the viewer’s question, show the relevant steps and link to a useful page for specifications or enquiries. A video should have a purpose beyond filling a publishing calendar.

Facebook and TikTok: plan for discovery and response

Consider Facebook for content distribution, community discussion and conversations around an offer when those activities match your audience. Give each post a clear point and assign someone to handle legitimate questions. Evaluate the quality of conversations as well as reach.

Consider TikTok when a product demonstration or short explanation can communicate value quickly. Build the video around a recognizable problem and make any limitations clear. Review the current platform rules before a campaign, particularly for regulated categories or claims.

Zalo and Shopee: connect interest to the next action

Evaluate Zalo as part of a communication and follow-up plan where customers already use it with your business. Decide what information the customer expects, who will reply and when a conversation should move to a sales or support process. Ask for the permissions needed for any messaging workflow.

Evaluate Shopee for a marketplace buying journey. Product identity, seller terms, delivery and current offers matter at the decision point. On an affiliate website, use transparent buying links and distinguish outbound clicks from confirmed orders or commission.

Choose a channel mix and a measurement plan

For an initial test, combine one discovery source, one page that answers the buyer’s questions and one follow-up route. For example, a demonstration can lead to a comparison page; a service search can lead to a consultation form. Treat these as testable paths, not guaranteed outcomes.

Use consistent campaign labels and a simple reporting sheet. Record spend or production effort, qualified visits, enquiries and the next business outcome you can actually verify. Compare channels by the same definition of a qualified action.
